Tuttle Creek 5-26-01

Tuttle Creek ORV Area, Roudolph, KS - Story by Scott Schroeder

Well the CJ got fixed and we went back out to conquer the hill that busted my leaf spring pack. We really went four wheeling this time. We went out all day and actually got in on a trail ride. There was my CJ-7, Brandon's Cherokee, Kris's Chevy, a fourwheeler, and a motorcycle. We hooked up with some guys in a TJ. Many people showed up and we had a blast. here are the highlights.

The only thing that went wrong with my CJ is I poped a brake line off the caliper when I flexed out in the above picture. It got hung up on the shock tower and decided it didn't want to follow the axle back down to the ground. We used a pair of vise-grips and crimped the brake line, added brake fluid and we were up and going again.

The white Chevy is Kris's. It busted a CV joint not to long after this mud hole.

Mvc-059s.jpg (62066 bytes) In this pic the TJ slamed into the tree and ripped off the stock step. The tree was wedged between the step and the tire.....oops!

This is a Toyota on 44's! He broke something in the front end later in the day.                                                                     Mvc-061s.jpg (78276 bytes)

Mvc-064s.jpg (60910 bytes) This CJ-5 tried to climb a never before climbed obstical....a 5 foot vertical rock wall. This is his wifes Jeep and she finally convinced him not to go all the way. She didn't want him to break her toy...since they were going to a trail ride a few weeks later. Even though this was the middle of Kansas it felt like we were in Colorado.

We had a blast and hope to go back soon. It was really cool to really test out our vehicles. I did climb that hill that claimed my leaf spring the year before. It was a cinch...imagine that.
